About Me
Located in Ottawa - Woodpark Neighbourhood - Woodroffe/Byron
Hello, my name is Jill Hodgins and I am a dance teacher, educator, and mother. I have many experienced years working with children and youth in the Ottawa area. I am a graduate of the Child and Youth Worker program from Algonquin College and I spent many years working as an Educational Assistant for the Ottawa Catholic School Board, working closely with children with special needs. This opportunity taught me so much and I gained a lot of knowledge and understanding when it comes to being a positive role model, advocate, and educator for our children. When I had my first son, I decided to follow a dream I've always had and open a home daycare. I absolutely love and cherish this path I'm on!
My goal is to provide children with a wonderful experience and head start they won’t experience elsewhere. My nurturing environment encourages children to explore the world around them and help them build their independence and social relationships. I have created a rich and creative environment for the children, with purposeful play areas that will help them construct a solid base of knowledge and life skills.
In my purpose-built daycare program, the learning area is designed to meet the needs of each unique individual child. Through experiential and imaginative play, my daycare engages in early literacy activities, exploratory learning of the world around us, and helping them establish a strong foundation for their future years.
There are many educators in my family and we have established strong roots in the Ottawa area. My husband is a Grade 4 teacher and we have created a household of learning for our children and my daycare program, Jill's Place. Our passion is to provide children with the best possible learning environment where they are valued, cared for, and respected. Our dinner table conversations often revolve around new ideas about the caring and nurturing environment I have created in Jill's Place.
